College of Engineering graduate program ranked 14th among publics
The Ohio State University College of Engineering’s graduate program is ranked 14th among all public universities in U.S. News & World Report’s 2020 Best Graduate Schools issue, up two spots since last year. At 27th overall, it remains the top-ranked engineering program in Ohio.
Other top 25 engineering programs at Ohio State include materials engineering (14), aerospace engineering (17) and computer engineering (21). The Department of Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering continues its steady improvement in two categories since the 2017 issue, up from 39 to 32 in civil and from 45 to 35 in environmental.
For the U.S. News rankings of graduate engineering programs, 214 engineering schools that grant doctoral degrees were surveyed. While overall engineering graduate school rankings are derived from a combination of 10 quantitative and qualitative indicators, the publication’s engineering specialty rankings are based solely on peer assessments by department heads in each area. The peer assessment surveys for the specialty area rankings were conducted in fall 2018.
In 2017-18 academic year, Ohio State’s College of Engineering awarded 618 graduate degrees.
