On Sept. 9, 2019, Prof. Bharat Bhushan received an Honorary Doctorate from the prestigious University of Tyumen, Russia. He received this recognition for his outstanding contributions to fundamental studies in the interdisciplinary areas of Bio/nanotribology/nanomechanics, Nanomaterials Characterization and Bio/nanotechnology with a focus on Scanning Probe Techniques, Biomimetics/bioinspiration, and Science Policy. 

Professor Bhushan’s interdisciplinary scientific career is vast. He has been honored for his many scientific contributions during his lifetime of work. He is one of the most prolific scientific authors. He has authored 10 scientific books, 90+ handbook chapters, 800+ scientific papers. He is one of Google Scholar’s 1410 Highly Cited Researchers in All Fields (h>100), h-index - 120+ with 75k+ citations; Fourth Highly Cited Researcher in Mechanical Engineering; ISI Highly Cited Researcher in Materials Science since 2007 and in Biology and Biochemistry in 2013; and Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher in the Cross-field Category in 2018. He has also edited 50+ books and holds more than 25 U.S. and foreign patents. His research was listed as one of Top Ten Science Stories of 2015. 

In 2013-14, he served as an ASME/AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow on the House Committee on Science, Space & Technology, United States Congress, Washington, DC. He is the recipient of 10 college degrees, which include a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, M.S. in Mechanics, MBA, and two semi-honorary and three honorary doctorates from around the world.
